FOUNDATIONS

A. FOUNDATIONS UNDER THE MONITORING OF THE INSTITUTIONS
 
The Mytilene Charity Institutions own and have in their monitoring the foundations (bequests):

• Nikolaou Mitrelia
• Vasiliou Kampa
• Eriphillys Archontopoulou
• Thrasivoulou Archontopoulou
• Georgiou Vostani
• Karantonio 

The Foundations (Bequests) have their own assets and their aim is the implementation of charitable acts such as issuing of scholarships in poor students of Higher Education, financial help in monthly or two-times a year installments, subsidy of orphanage while they financially support fellow-citizens who wish to publish their writing, their book. The financial aids depend on the economic capabilities of each Foundation (Bequest).

:: FOUNDATION NIKOLAOU MITRELIA

The properties of the Foundation (three olive tree cultivations) were devolved to the property of the Mytilene Charity Institutions from the heritage Nikolaos Mitrelias. It is managed by the Council of the Mytilene Charity Institutions.
Purpose: Subsidy of Home of the Aged.

:: FOUNDATION VASILIOU KAMPA

The properties of the Foundation (two shops, four olive tree cultivations) were devolved to the property of the Mytilene Charity Institutions from the Will (16-5-1949) of Vasilios Kampas. It is managed by the Council of the Mytilene Charity Institutions and the Will Executors.
According to the Will, half of net annual income it goes to the Charity Institutions and it is allocated in charitable aims, the remainder ½ it is granted to the Executors of the Will and it is similarly allocated in charitable aims of their absolute choice (monthly pensions of destitutes).

:: FOUNDATION ERIPHILLYS ARCHONTOPOULOU

The properties of the Foundation (three apartments, three olive tree cultivations) were devolved to the property of the Mytilene Charity Institutions from the Will (8-3-1934) of Eriphilly Archontopoulou. It is managed by the Council of the Mytilene Charity Institutions and the Will Executors.
The apartments are rented to poor families with a low monthly rent o 75 Euros each. According to the Will, 2/5 of the annual income it goes to the Charity Institutions and it is allocated in charitable aims, the remainder 3/5 it is granted to the Executors of the Will and it is similarly allocated in charitable aims of their absolute choice.

:: FOUNDATION THRASIVOULOU ARCHONTOPOULOU

The properties of the Foundation (nine mountainous and inaccessible olive tree cultivations) were devolved to the property of the Mytilene Charity Institutions from the Will of Thrasivoulos Archontopoulos. It is managed by the Council of the Mytilene Charity Institutions.
50% of the income of the Foundation goes towards supporting the Katsakouleion Orphanage and the other 50% in other Charitable Aims of choice of the Administrative Council. This includes financial support to fellow-citizens who wish to publish their their writing work.

:: EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION GEORGIOU VOSTANI

Purpose: Issuing of scholarships to poor first prize winner graduates of High School, that have enrolled and study in Highest Education Foundation (Universities etc.) that originate from the island of Lesvos with preference of acceptance from the towns of Mytilene, Pamfila and Mistegna.
Issuing of scholarships for postgraduate studies in Greece or the Abroad.

:: KARANTONIOS FOUNDATIONS

Purpose: Issuing of scholarships for further education abroad for Lesvians graduates of Greek universities and technical universities.

The Foundations that have as aim the issuing of scholarships are the Educational Bequest Georgiou Vostani that grants scholarships for second level and postgraduate studies in poor Greek university students.
The number of scholars vary depending on the income of the Foundation.
 

B. FOUNDATION OF APOSTOLOS SIMANTIRIS

The Simantiris Foundation constitutes a non profitable organization and was founded by the benefactor Apostolos Simantiris.
The fortune includes small number of urban real estates and mainly olive tree orchards in the region of the Municipality of Mytilene. The crown of the jewell however is the the Estate of Achladeri which is located in the central part of Lesvos island, in the Eastern side of Kalloni gulf and occupies a single extent of 7.000 roughly acres and it is characterized for its natural beauty.

The Estate includes a single olive grove of 1.700 acres, pinewood and arable extents. Sheep, cattle, pork and poultry are also bread in the estate. In the Estate, the School of Elementary Agriculture can be found as well as the Simantiris' Mansion which has been lately converted into a Pension, ox-stall, aviary, sheep-fold, pigsty, cheese factory and packaging plant for olive oil.

It is mainly engaged in the biological agriculture and livestock-farming with main products the olives, the olive oil, the milk and the meat.
Aim of the Foundation, according to the will of benefactor, is the systematic and rational management of its rural fortune and from the surpluses of this exploitation to educate new farmers.
